An OxyCide lawsuit demands compensation for injuries caused by this dangerous cleaner. People who use this product and suffered harm have the right to file a claim for damages. OxyCide Daily Disinfectant Cleaner is advertised as a non-bleach alternative cleaner for daily use in healthcare settings. The cleaners are used in hundreds of hospitals and healthcare clinics across the United States to kill viruses and bacteria.

This disinfectant has reportedly caused a variety of harmful symptoms to those who are regularly exposed to the chemical. Individuals, such as nurses, aides, and janitorial staff, are currently suing EcoLab for the failure to warn consumers about the dangerous side effects of the disinfectant, including the risk of breathing problems.

There were either improper warnings or no warnings on the cleaning products. As a result, employees were unable to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves while using the product.

What is OxyCide?

OxyCide is a newer non-bleach alternative cleaner used in hospital settings, also used often on cruise ships. According to a 2012 study, the use of OxyCide resulted in a 36.5 percent reduction of the bacteria on a hospital surface when compared to other disinfectants. OxyCide is used as the primary cleaning solution in healthcare facilities nationwide. However, many healthcare employees reportedly say they and their coworkers have experienced a number of adverse effects when using the product.

Asthma and Breathing Problems Linked to OxyCide

EcoLab is alleged to have failed to test long-term exposure to peroxyacetic acid (PAA), which is a known asthma-causing substance, and one of the main active ingredients in OxyCide. Additionally, EcoLab also reportedly did not consider the effects of combining peroxyacetic acid and hydrogen peroxide and is believed to have concealed the results of internal tests that showed subjects experiencing side effects.

As a result, EcoLab now faces class-action lawsuits from consumers alleging that the company negligently distributed a harmful product.

OxyCide Side Effects and Symptoms

OxyCide first began being distributed to 500 hospitals in 2013. Since then hospital employees have reported serious side effects and injuries including:

  • Breathing and respiratory problems
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness
  • Asthma-like symptoms like wheezing and coughing
  • Throat irritation
  • Nasal irritation including runny or bloody nose
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Skin burns, cracked skin, lip irritation, and rashes
  • Burning or stinging in the eyes
  • Upset stomach, nausea

If you have experienced any of the above symptoms or similar symptoms that seem to be related to the use of OxyCide, you may be eligible to receive compensation from EcoLab.

Is There a Class Action Lawsuit Against EcoLab?

There is currently at least one class-action lawsuit against Ecolab. the suit was filed in Minnesota by three hospital employees. The suit demands compensation for their personal injuries from the cleaning agent. It also requests payouts for other employees exposed to and harmed by OxyCide.

The lawsuit complaint alleges several legal theories based upon negligence principles against Ecolab. These allegations include:

  • The hospital cleaner was improperly designed and dangerous for its intended use
  • This is a dangerous product on market for use by the public
  • The manufacturer failed to have proper warnings to protect workers from the toxic fumes
  • The failure to exercise reasonable care in manufacturing, designing, selling, and distributing the product
  • The manufacturer knew the product was hazardous but represented it was safe to use
  • The product maker implied the product was safe when it knows it was a public health risk
  • The manufacturer intentionally concealed the product dangers to purchasers and the public

The class-action lawsuit demands compensation for people who suffered injury from exposure to OxyCide. Individuals with pre-existing conditions like asthma were extremely vulnerable to the toxic product.
