Aurora Sardina Named 2020 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship Winner

Aurora Sardinia, woman with red and black hair wearing black shirt and red lipstickSOUTHFIELD, MI — Drug Lawsuit Source is pleased to announce Aurora Sardina, of Tucson, Ariz., has been named this year’s recipient of the 2020 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship.

Established in 2015, the Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was created to help ease some of the financial burdens of single-parent families who are in pursuit of higher education. Each year, Drug Lawsuit Source — an online resource for information about different diseases and medical conditions — awards $1,000 to a single parent who is helping raise at least one child.

Currently enrolled at Pima Community College, Sardinia is studying CyberSecurity and will earn her Associate of Applied Science before transferring to the Cyber Operations Bachelor of Applied Science program at the University of Arizona, where she will tentatively graduate in 2022.

“I hope to obtain a Department of Defense contract after I graduate so I can go back to work for the military,” Sardina, an Army Veteran, wrote in her essay. “My end goal is to work on the dark web in hopes of tracking child sex traffickers for prosecution. I hope to reunite missing children with their families and loved ones.”

A mother of three, Sardinia is passionate about education and setting an example for her children. Even when balancing their education, extracurriculars, along with her own education, Sardinia says she knows her children look to her as an inspiration and she wouldn’t quit, regardless of how overwhelming it may seem.

“I have been a single mother most of my adult life,” Sardinia said, “I am halfway through my education, and this scholarship will help me pay for my education while I make ends meet.”

“We’re proud to name Aurora as this year’s scholarship recipient,” Buckfire Law president Lawrence J. Buckfire said. “Her drive and passion to overcome the many challenges thrown her way are both inspiring and motivating.”

Each year, the Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship is available to one student of any age who is a single parent helping to raise at least one child, currently enrolled in a high school, trade school, apprentice school, junior college, college, university, or graduate school in the United States with a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

The deadline to apply for the 2020 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was Nov. 1, 2020. Details for the 2021 scholarship will be posted in the near future on www.druglawsuitsource.com
