Hali Spencer Named 2024 Single Parent Scholarship Winner

Hali Spencer 2024 Scholarship WinnerSOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Drug Lawsuit Source is pleased to announce Hali Spencer, of Blanding, Utah, has been named this year’s recipient of the 2024 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship

Established in 2015, the Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was created to help take some of the financial burden off single-parent families who are in pursuit of higher education. Each year, Drug Lawsuit Source — an online resource for information about different diseases and medical conditions — awards $1,000 to a single parent who is helping raise at least one child.

Currently enrolled at Utah State University, Spencer is pursuing a law degree and will earn her Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and sociology. She plans to specialize in civil rights law and advocate for social justice.

“I have always been passionate about every angle of the legal system, and I want to make a difference in my community through advocacy and justice,” Spencer said. “I have faced many challenges as a single mother, but I am determined to provide a better future for my children through education and hard work.”

Spencer has developed an interest in tribal law and plans to become an expert in this field. Her goal is to help local reservation communities and indigenous peoples with their legal concerns.

She frequently helps at legal aid clinics and attends workshops and conferences, where she has the opportunity to support and engage with reservation communities.

“Using my expertise and abilities to improve the lives of indigenous peoples is my goal,” Spencer said. “I hope to make a meaningful impact in promoting justice and fairness for all individuals.”

“We’re proud to name Hali as this year’s scholarship recipient,” Buckfire Law president Lawrence J. Buckfire said. “Her determination to help marginalized communities, as well as her ambition to provide a better future for her children, are both inspiring and moving.”

Each year, the DLS Single Parent Scholarship is available to one student of any age who is a single parent helping to raise at least one child, currently enrolled in a high school, trade school, apprentice school, junior college, college, university, or graduate school in the United States with a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

The deadline to apply for the 2025 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship is Nov. 1, 2025. Details are posted on www.druglawsuitsource.com, and applications are currently being accepted.
