Carey White, Jr. Named 2023 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship Winner

Carey White Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship winnerSOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Drug Lawsuit Source is pleased to announce Carey White, Jr., of San Ramo, Calif., has been named this year’s recipient of the 2023 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship.

Established in 2015, the Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was created to help take some of the financial burden off single-parent families who are in pursuit of higher education. Each year, Drug Lawsuit Source — an online resource for information about different diseases and medical conditions — awards $1,000.00 to a single parent who is helping raise at least one child.

Currently enrolled at California State University – East Bay, White is studying nursing and will earn his Bachelor of Science, with plans to continue his studies and become a Registered Nurse in the future.

“I strive to show not only my son, but my four youngest siblings who reside in foster case that you can achieve your goals,” White said. “I just hope to be a positive male role model for them and other single parents who need some extra encouragement.”

White has wanted to be a nurse since he was a young child when he vividly remembers visiting his grandfather in the hospital.

He currently works as a nurse assistant, where he has the opportunity to continue to learn, but also help serve his community and offer compassionate care to patients.

“I want to contribute in continuing the positive image of healthcare and giving people the reassurance they need while being cared for,” White said.

“We’re proud to name Carey as this year’s scholarship recipient,” Buckfire Law president Lawrence J. Buckfire said. “His compassion and concern for patients, as well as his desire to be a positive role model for his family, are both inspiring and motivating.”

Each year, the DLS Single Parent Scholarship is available to one student of any age who is a single parent helping to raise at least one child, currently enrolled in a high school, trade school, apprentice school, junior college, college, university, or graduate school in the United States with a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

The deadline to apply for the 2024 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship is Nov. 1, 2024. Details are posted on www.druglawsuitsource.com, and applications are currently being accepted.
